She took to the stage on Friday with an opening flurry of low-key tracks before bursting into some of her biggest hits, but Ellie Goulding appeared to be bursting out of her tight leather shorts as fans took in her performance.
The 27-year-old singer was amongst the opening acts at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival as the annual event kicked off with the obligatory smattering of celebrity revellers making their way onto the site in Indio, California.
But it was her black leather ensemble that dominated as she performed with an accompanying live band as the sun slowly set on the Empire Polo Ground venue.

With the large zipper that fastened her leather shorts partially open, Ellie opened her set with new single Figure 8 before launching into album tracks Goodness Gracious, Animal and Starry Eyed.

The singer matched her shorts with a matching black basque-top with a distinctive cut out panel that revealed a generous portion of her stomach.
A sleeveless cape outlandishly rounded things off, and the semi-sheer garment fluttered on a light breeze as she walked from one side of the stage to the other.

Ellie added to the ensemble with a pair of Nike running shoes, while her flaxen locks naturally cascaded across her shoulders.
The outfit helped the singer show off her curves shortly after admitting she loves her new body shape since becoming a vegetarian six months ago.
'I'm way more womanly now', she told the Daily Star. 'I'm a bit more confident with my body. I've got a belly, boobs and a bum.'

Hands in the air: The 27-year-old songstress gets the crowd going

The British star was one of the opening acts as Coachella kicked off on Friday, and she delighted those in attendance by rounding off her set with a series of hits – amongst them Anything Could Happen, I Need Your Love and Burn.
Other acts scheduled to perform include Pharrell Williams, Beck, Queens of the Stone Age and Lorde.
The reunited The Replacements will also appear.
